WL-SPICA - Novel Speckle Interferometry Camera for White Light, Photometry and Spectroscopy with Small Telescopes
Abstract:
Speckle Interferometry is a well-known technique of high resolution imaging, introduced by Labeyrie (1970). In 1994 SPICA, the Speckle Interferometry Camera, was built at the Hoher List Observatory. Direct CCD imaging was revolutionary at the time SPICA when was successfully applied with large telescopes like the 1m Cassegrain of the Hoher List Observatory and also the Danish 1.54 at the European Southern Observatory. WL-SPICA, the novel White Light Speckle Interferometry Camera, offers a new approach of high-resolution imaging and spectroscopy using color CMOS imaging sensors and including small telescopes. The talk gives an overview about the WL-SPICA concept, theory and observations.
