The Hα V/R Variability of ζ Tauri – From Spectral Line Profiles to Long-Term Disk Evolution
Abstract:
The Be-shell star ζ Tauri is a binary system with an orbital period of approximately 133 days.
Tidal interactions between the companion and the circumstellar disk may induce a nodding motion of an inclined disk, as demonstrated by Schaefer et al. (2010).
This study presents an investigation of the long-term Hα V/R variability of ζ Tauri, extending the earlier work of Pollmann & Rivinius (2008).
The primary objective is to determine whether the well-known long-period V/R cycle maintains a consistent pattern throughout the observational record or exhibits changes associated with different activity states of the circumstellar disk.
By comparing the V/R behaviour during high- and low-activity phases, this investigation aims to provide new insights into the temporal evolution of the disk and the possible influence of orbital interactions on its variability.
